The absurd fact that during our lifetime, at least for some of us, women were not allowed to attend an ivy league institution or become an astronaut or serve in combat is mind-numbing. It’s hard for me to fathom that my own mother had to rely on my father to open a bank account.

Women were banned from taking birth control pills, fired from their jobs when they gave birth, and prohibited from breastfeeding in public. Wait a minute, do these sound familiar? We’ve come a long way since 1950, it’s clear there are miles to go.
