Since this year’s New Year’s Eve Celebrations are going to be much different, I thought it’d be fun to come up with ideas to still enjoy the holiday.
Whether you are celebrating with close friends or family, there is something for everyone. Here are 4 ideas for New Year’s Eve!
1-Virtual Meetings
Of course, the easiest way to connect with those loved ones that aren’t near is to have a virtual party. Zoom “meetings” have certainly blossomed this year. Yet there are many other options too that I’ve listed in a blog post.
Insider tips: Make sure to at least put on a lovely shirt and and remember that the lighting is very important. If your meeting is during the day, make sure to face a window where the light comes in. If it’s during the evening, make sure to place a light in front of you, not behind you.
And, if you are celebrating this way, it’s fun to share a drink recipe with all of the participants so you can all “cheer” with same cocktail!!
2-Take a Hike
Any outdoor activity is not only good for our immune system, but it’s also great for our mental health. Taking a hike can be the easiest way to have a small gathering yet stay safe.
Even though you say “hike”, you can walk around the neighborhoods and ogle the holiday lights. Or scout out a fun trail that is nearby.
Insider tip: There are wonderful heated hand and feet warmers to help keep you toasty in the coldest of cold weather.

3-Intimate Gathering
Having your besties only over can be just as fun as the large parties. And you don’t have to get all dressed up and worry about making a ton of food.
How about putting on a chic flick and making popcorn to enjoy??
If you don’t want to watch a movie together, each person could share something fun that they like. For example, one of my friends makes the best tree toppers. And my mother can tie a scarf in a hundred different ways.
Each person could bring their expertise to the party and everyone will go home that much smarter.
Or how about a accessories swap? This is when each person brings 2-3 pieces of jewelry or any kind of accessories that they don’t want anymore. Then everyone takes home different pieces without spending a dime. Think hats, scarves, rings, bracelets, necklaces and even brooches.
This can also be done with clothing if everyone is close to the same size.
4-Slumber Party
Even better is a fun slumber party. Then no one has to worry about driving home in the dark, and you can show off your cute jammies!!
What’s even more fun is if you have everyone bring some photos from their past. Sharing our memories is a great way to usher in the new year.
If it’s just your family for this celebration, it’s still fun to relive the past and bring out the photo albums.
If you don’t want to exchange memories, it could be nice to do each others nails or makeup. We all enjoy pampering, but it’s more fun when it’s done together.
Another idea is to play dress up. Have everyone at the party get a chance to style each other. Even if the clothing doesn’t fit, you can still hold them up and take photos of each other.
It’s amazing how different eyes can put together different outfits. You’d be very surprised at the unique combinations that can come out of an exercise like this. Don’t discount the hubbies and kids for this endeavor, because their perspective is usually very different.
