I know, some of you are not into fashion trends, and you prefer to just focus on your personal style.

And that’s great. But, many of us love to see what’s new and love to keep our style fresh and modern. This article is for the latter.

5 Hot Fashion Trends:

So here we go with 5 Hot Trends to check out:

“You could pair a deep wine pair of velour jeans with a pink or gray sweater.”

1. Colored Pants And Jeans:

These are huge right now, and the great thing is that they can work for everyone. From corduroy to denim and velour, we are seeing all shades on the bottom half right now.

This can be a fun way to bring color into your wardrobe and is also a great way to wear colors that you love but aren’t the best up near your face. For example, maybe a deep berry or wine color is too deep to wear close to your face. You could pair a deep wine pair of velour jeans with a pink or gray sweater. The same goes for bright colors. A chambray shirt is a great choice with these colored bottoms, and you can add in your favorite neutral as a third piece.

2. Embroidery:

Embroidery is showing up everywhere! On chambray shirts, on jeans, on sweaters, even on jackets! You can choose a hint of a floral pattern or a full-on rose garden. Indulge your romantic side or choose a more geometric pattern for an Indie or edgy look. A little goes a long way, so only wear embroidery one item at a time. And if wearing it on your clothing is too much for you, choose it on a bag or shoes.

A Classic Worth Investing In:

3. Woven Boxy Jackets:

These jackets with frayed edges (think Chanel inspired) are being worn in every way possible. Toss on with a dress, skirt, or slacks for the office, and pair the same jacket with a graphic tee and jeans for the weekend. I’ve seen them in pastels, jewel tones, and even solid white (be still my heart!) I’ll admit that I am biased toward these jackets, as I have always loved them, and I consider them a classic worth investing in.

Look for the fit that’s right for your body type. Some are less boxy with seaming and darting to pull the waist area in, and others are truly boxy and double-breasted with fun retro buttons. Wear them now with a long-sleeved shirt, sweater, or turtleneck and then with a tank or camisole in the Spring/Summer months.

4. Loafers:

The hot shoe of the moment is loafers. Loafers have resurfaced with a new edge and fun details like lug soles, and embellishments like ribbons and chains. I have been seeing them all winter in leather, suede, & patent leather, and am now seeing them in lighter colors as we head toward spring.

“The options for styling them are endless.”

They come in traditional heel heights and newer heeled and platform versions. A heeled option with tights and a skirt will keep you looking sharp on a cold day, while a light-colored patent leather could be worn sockless on into summer with your favorite white jeans.

Gorgeous And Elegant Johnny Was:

5. Kimonos:

Kimonos continue have their moment and they only seem to be growing in popularity. Again, there is one for everybody, with a wide variety of lengths, weights, and patterns in the marketplace. They too can be dressed up or down and can be found in every budget from Amazon pricing up to the gorgeous and elegant Johnny Was versions.

The options for styling them are endless. Wear with jeans and tees, slip dresses, dressy slacks and blouses for the office, or even with a swimsuit as a cover-up. Some versions are light and breezy, while others use textiles like velour for a heavier feel. Some are truly works of art and investment pieces, so the choice is up to you as to whether you want to commit to a piece or just grab a fun one for the season.

Pay attention to cut and length when shopping to get one that is flattering for your shape. A belted option can help define your waist, but a flowy less structured version may help hide some holiday sins in the midsection.

As we wait for Spring to usher in new colors and styles, enjoy trying some of these trends. You may find a new favorite classic.

Happy Dressing!
