Style Confidence: Elysha Lenkin
Have you ever opened your closet and thought, “Ugh, I want to get rid of everything?”
“Well, I’m sharing 5 signs that say you’re ready!”
As a personal stylist, I hear this a lot! But sometimes, it’s not until you see yourself in a photo and think, “Who is that?!” that you realize you’re not happy with your style and maybe it’s time for an upgrade.
I had a client who was in this situation. She wanted to express her own unique style through her outfits but struggled to put together looks that felt true to her. So she’d end up copying Ann Taylor store mannequins, but that just made her feel boring and like everyone else. After seeing herself in a picture, she decided it was time for an upgrade!
So what if you’re already pretty good at putting together outfits that make a statement, how do you know it’s time for a fashion update? Well, I’m sharing 5 signs that say you’re ready! Once you dial in on your own personal style, getting dressed will be a breeze and you’ll feel more confident showing off your true self. Keep reading to find out if it’s time for a refresh!
5 Signs It’s Time For A Style Upgrade:
1. Your Body Has Changed.
Our bodies go through many changes as women, and that’s completely normal. But here’s the thing, resisting these changes can cause some personal style issues. Have you ever found yourself trying to fit into old clothes that just don’t work anymore?
Or settling for outfits that don’t make you feel confident or inspired because they’re the only ones that fit? It’s frustrating and can affect your entire day! The good news is that a style upgrade can help you embrace your changing body and feel comfortable and confident in your own skin.
By experimenting with new styles, colors, and adding pieces that fit and flatter your current shape, you can create a wardrobe that makes you feel amazing. And this can make a big difference in your mood and overall outlook on life.
“Just know that you don’t have to overhaul your entire wardrobe at once.”
Level Up Your Life With A Style Upgrade:
2. You’re Leveling Up In Life – Either With A New Work Role Or More Visibility In Your Business.
When you’re making moves in your career, you might realize that your old clothes don’t feel right anymore. You’re reaching new heights, and your clothes need to reflect that. One of my clients had this exact experience – it took her years to recognize that her old clothes didn’t match her new role as VP. She had to finally let go of the clothes she’d been holding onto from her “striving years” and upgrade her style to match where she was headed.
3. You’re Looking For A New Job.
A polished and professional appearance can make a world of difference in how potential employers perceive you. If you look and feel put-together, it sends the message that you’re ready for the next step and serious about your career. Just know that you don’t have to overhaul your entire wardrobe at once. Adding in a few key pieces that make you feel comfortable and confident can be a game-changer when you’re trying to make a strong impression.
Aligning Personal Style:
I’m currently working with a woman who is searching for a new job. Our first step was to create some fantastic interview outfits that were both professional and stylish. Now, we’re moving on to the next step: aligning her personal style with the image she wants to portray in her new role.
It’s incredible how much taking the time to think about the “future you” can impact your energy and mindset. When you visualize how you want to show up in your new job, it helps you become an energetic match for that next level. And a personal style that reflects your confidence and aspirations can be a powerful tool to help you achieve your goals.
4. You’ve Never Done It Before Or You’ve Always Wanted To.
“I had a client who worked in banking and she told me she never got the “dressing lessons” growing up.”
Have you ever thought about upgrading your personal style but haven’t done it yet? Maybe you feel guilty, like it’s a selfish thing to do. Or maybe you feel a little embarrassed that you need help getting dressed. But the truth is, most of us have never really been taught how to style ourselves. I had a client who worked in banking and she told me she never got the “dressing lessons” growing up.
So taking the time to invest in yourself and your personal style can actually help you feel more confident and make you feel good about your appearance. It’s not a selfish thing – it’s a way to sharpen your style skills and show people who you really are.
Energy That Can Bring You Down:
5. You Hate All Your Clothes:
If you absolutely hate all your clothes, it’s time for an upgrade. Just think about it, when you wear clothes that don’t make you feel good or inspired, you’re literally wearing that discomfort and boredom on your body all day. And that energy can bring you down and affect how you feel and act throughout the day.
On the other hand, when you wear clothes that you love and feel good in, you’ll feel energized and confident, and that positive energy will radiate throughout your day. So, it’s worth the investment!
