Beauty Thought Leader: Elise Marquam-Jahns
Many of you have commented that when you put on some makeup, you just plain and simple feel better.
Makeup can definitely be a mood booster. And although many of us enjoy a beautiful neutral eyeshadow look, and I certainly do, today I just need to have some fun playing with eyeshadow color. I hope you’ll enjoy the process with me.
Brown, Black & Grey:
For many years in my “first act” career, much of my closet consisted of brown, black and grey clothes. But over the last few years, I’ve donated a lot of those clothes because I’ve realized how much better I feel when I wear colors that look the best on me and just make me happy.
“I’ve also been looking for ways to add more of my favorite colors to our home décor.”
So walking into my closet today is quite a different experience than it was a few years ago. Now walking into my closet brings a smile to my face. I think it’s good for all of us to have these small moments of pleasure every day, right?
Favorite Colors:
Lately, I’ve been looking for ways to add more of my favorite colors to our home décor. So I was very excited yesterday when my husband put up a gorgeous photo in our master bathroom that had taken us a lot of searching to find. I see it immediately when I enter the bathroom. Now, walking into that bathroom immediately lifts my spirits. And that bathroom just happens to lead into my clothes closet. (By the way, my husband does have some closet space in another room!)
Well, I went off on a bit of a tangent, so let’s get back to makeup! Today, I’m going to create some eye makeup looks using colors I love from a wonderful all-matte palette called “The Blends” from Blend Bunny Cosmetics. The Blend Bunny Cosmetics company was launched by makeup artist Maggie Jones. She created this particular blends palette because she saw so many palettes where the layout of the colors just didn’t make any sense. It actually made the palette harder to use.
As an example, I think the Pro Pigment Volume 3 Palette from the ABH Norvina Collection is a perfect example of one of these harder-to-use eye shadow palettes. It’s a gorgeous palette. But I think it’s pretty intimidating to use. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the layout of these colors.
“I’m going to “glam up” the two final looks with some beautiful shimmer.”
“The Blends” Palette:
On the other hand, the layout of “The Blends” palette makes perfect logical sense since the colors are laid out in trios with color gradients going from light to dark.
I will do some all matte looks and then I may also add some shimmer from some of these Colourpop palettes: “High Tide,” “Lilac You a Lot,” “Lush Life” or “Cabana Club.” Or, there are also some great shimmers in the three palettes that comprise the Sydney Grace collaboration with Temptalia. These are the shimmers from the “On The Horizon Palette,” the “Quintessence” Palette and the “Radiant Reflections” palette.
I really have no idea what direction I’m going to go with these eyeshadow looks, so let’s just dive in and see what happens!
All in all I’ll create four different looks and then I’m going to “glam up” the two final looks with some beautiful shimmer. To watch the creation of all of these looks, join the video at this time: 3:18.
