Holistic Healing Thought Leader: Carol Lee
There is a lot written about vision boards these days and how they can help you create more of what you want in your life.
I know from my own experience that creating a vision board can be a powerful exercise and amazing tool for creating what we want in our lives, whether this is around our well being, our work, leisure time, our relationships or our health.
In this article I want to share how I create my vision board and then supercharge it by making the most of the seasonal and lunar energy and tuning into my own feelings.
What Is A Vision Board:
A vision board is a collection of images and statements that represents our goals. What we would like more of in our life. This visual representation acts as an anchor reconnecting us back to these goals every time we look at it.
“It’s a bit like stacking the odds in our favour and hitching a lift with someone that’s already going our way.”
A vision board is to be worked with as often as possible once it has been created. Cutting and pasting images is only a very small part of the alchemy of this process.
There are two added key elements that can supercharge this process…
- What is happening out in nature and when we create it
- How we are feeling about what we would like more of in our life
Work With The Natural Energy Flow:
We can create a vision board at anytime but we can give them extra power if we work with the natural flow of the seasonal and lunar cycles. It’s a bit like stacking the odds in our favour and hitching a lift with someone that’s already going our way.
Spring is naturally a great time to think of new beginnings, it is the energetic start of the year and there is energy for starting afresh. There is that strong ‘push’ energy in nature. The sap is beginning to rise and we are emerging from our ‘winter cave’ wanting to get back out into the world. Think of the amount of power needed to break through the shell of a seed and up through the soil towards the light. That ‘push’ energy is also within us, spurring us on to make new goals and plans.
Therefore when we create a vision board at the start of spring around the Spring Equinox we are…
- Connecting with expansive energy of spring that embraces new beginnings
- Working with the momentum of transforming the sleepy dream time of winter into the action phase of spring.
This year (2023) the spring equinox is just before the New Moon. The new moon, like spring, heralds new beginnings and with the start of the waxing, growing phase, gives us an opportunity to build a positive, expansive feeling around our vision.
Our Thoughts And Feelings Make It Happen:
“This beautifully sums up the two ingredients we need for creating change in our lives.”
Dr. Joe Dispenza says ‘Thoughts are the language of the brain and feelings are the language of the body. And how we think and how we feel creates our state of being.’
This beautifully sums up the two ingredients we need for creating change in our lives. The ‘thoughts’ part is covered by the cutting and pasting, the imagining, the day dreaming. It’s the feeling part that often gets forgotten but this is where the alchemy can truly start to happen. The key is generating a feeling of excitement, optimism, and gratitude around what we envision is coming our way.
The question is to ask yourself ‘How would I feel if…?’, my business was thriving, I found my perfect home, I found my soul mate and then to notice in your body how you feel. You are aiming for a good feeling, a heart swelling, a sense of contentment, a peacefulness. When I do this I combine it with saying ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you’. I’m imagining and feeling that I’ve received it already.
6 Step Process To Make Your Vision Board:
- Spend time jotting down some notes as you allow yourself to daydream about a vision for your life.
- For a vision to come into reality you will need to feel it in your body; so as you day dream really connect in with how it will feel to live a life where your vision becomes your reality.
- Now you have your feelings and a vision you can cut and paste images that connect you to the feeling you want to have. You could also do this using an online tool like Canva.
- Write positive statements that remind you of the feeling and add them to your vision board.
- Decorate it so it feels fully you; colour, paint, and collect bits and pieces from nature to stick on that supports your vision.
- Place the board somewhere where you can see it regularly everyday.
Finally… and this is very important, start taking action, vision boards don’t work in a vacuum, they support you to be more focused.
