Our Sunday, Share Your Story, Pamela Weinberg:

KUELLIFE: What are you pursuing now, at this stage of your life, that surprises you or might appear to others as if it comes out of left field?

PAMELA: I am taking a class to become a Certified Resume Writer which is something I have avoided since becoming a career coach. I am getting over my fear of formatting!

KUELLIFE: What’s a typical day like for you?

PAMELA: I exercise nearly every day, and like to do that in the morning so I will do either a Peloton class, long walk, or @IsaacBoots on Instagram. Pre-Covid, I attended classes at the Tracy Anderson studio in NYC. Post-exercise, I work until lunch time and then take a break and stretch my legs. I like to end my day meeting up with a friend for either coffee or a glass of wine to catch up and socialize. My job is pretty solitary so I need that social interaction a few days per week.

KUELLIFE: With what do you struggle?

“staying motivated to build my business when the world is turned upside down”

PAMELA: I struggle with so many things. Right now (during the pandemic) I am struggling with staying motivated to build my business when the world is turned upside down. It’s a daily/weekly struggle to complete my to-do list.

KUELLIFE: How do you motivate yourself and stay motivated?

PAMELA:  I give myself that same advice that I give my clients. Take one step at a time to get closer to your goal. I also am a fan on blocking out time on my calendar to do specific things that I have to do, but don’t particularly like to do such as writing a blog post or doing networking outreach.

KUELLIFE: What advice would you give fellow women about aging?

“get some younger people in their lives”

PAMELA: I don’t think about age very often. I exercise with women who are nearly half my age and I enjoy being around them, I think being around younger women, especially those in the workplace or who are entrepreneurs gets my creative juices going. I would advise women my age to get some younger people in their lives.

KUELLIFE: What does vulnerability mean to you? What has the ability to make you vulnerable?

PAMELA: I am part of a great professional group and there are seven of us. Because we trust one another, the group provides a place for me to be vulnerable and admit to not knowing how to accomplish something or feeling down about a business loss. It is so freeing to be able to truly be vulnerable, and it is also one of the most difficult things to achieve.

KUELLIFE: What are three events that helped to shape your life?

PAMELA: 1) My Parent’s divorce 2) Becoming a parent 3) Seeing my book City Baby in Barnes & Noble

KUELLIFE: Who influenced you the most in life and why?

PAMELA: My grandparents were both amazing influences on me. My grandfather, although he never attended college, was one of the wisest people I knew. He taught me about patience, hard work, and the importance of a positive attitude. He practiced mindfulness way before it was trendy. He and my grandmother both taught me about kindness, generosity and unconditional love.

KUELLIFE: What is the best advice you’ve been given from another woman?

PAMELA: My step-mother, with whom I was very close, gave me advice decades ago that I have never forgotten: “If you don’t know what do to, do nothing”. This has saved me in so many situations where I just wanted to solve or fix something. It taught me patience.

KUELLIFE: What woman inspires you and why?

PAMELA: I am inspired by Michelle Obama who I adore in every way. She is brilliant, a great mother, wife, and fantastic first lady.

KUELLIFE: Are you grown-up?

PAMELA: Sometimes I feel grown-up, and sometimes not at all. I don’t always feel very “adult” and I think it’s because I am petite in stature and look younger than I am.  I feel like I am young at heart and look forward to what life will bring me next. I don’t want to slow down at all.

KUELLIFE: What do you do for self-care?

PAMELA: I love getting mani/pedis and also ask for extra foot massage. Nothing better!

KUELLIFE: And last but definitely NOT least: What are the top three things on your bucket list?

PAMELA: Walking my two children down the aisle; Seeing Silverback Gorillas on Safari, Getting a permanent spot on a morning TV show as a career expert
