Dr. Barbara L Katz is a physician, an Advanced Certified Weight Loss Coach and a Life Coach for women over 50.

When Dr. Katz approached me after hearing about our mission to normalize aging for women on the Women of Value Podcast, I knew she belonged on the roster of Kuel Life Thought Leaders. Many of us struggle with weight gain later in life. Having a doctor dedicated to providing our Community with valuable information on the best ways to manage our weight is a WIN/WIN.

Help me welcome Dr. Barbara Katz to Kuel Life!

Barbara – Your Weight Loss And Life Coach In One:

KUELLIFE: What type of business do you run?

Barbara: I am a weight loss and life coach for women over 50. I coach through Zoom.

“I wanted to lose weight as I began dating and joined a weight loss program for women physicians.”

KUELLIFE: What prompted you or drove you to become an entrepreneur? When?

Barbara: I was divorced in 2018 after 43 years of marriage. I wanted to lose weight as I began dating and joined a weight loss program for women physicians. While in that program, I was introduced to the power of coaching and was finally able to permanently lose weight without dieting or counting calories or macros.

I learned how to self-coach, as well, and was able to use my coaching skills in other areas of my life. I became a certified life coach from The Life Coach School in 2021 because I wanted to share what I had learned with other women. Moreover, I especially enjoy using these tools to obtain permanent weight loss and was recently certified as an Advanced Weight Loss Coach.

Enjoying The Process:

KUELLIFE: What’s your biggest struggle?

Barbara: My biggest struggle is learning how to market. However, I love learning new skills and I’m really enjoying the process of learning to run my own business.

KUELLIFE: What is your biggest fear as an entrepreneur? How do you work through it?

“If you are considering a new challenge, just go for it.”

Barbara: My biggest fear is becoming comfortable with marketing myself. I work through it by pushing myself to be visible – because I cannot share my knowledge if women do not know that I exist.

Life-Changing:

KUELLIFE: How do you measure your success?

Barbara: I measure success by the women who let me know that their lives have been permanently changed for the better through coaching. I also measure success by the skills I am learning and the challenges I am mastering by starting a business in my late 60s.

KUELLIFE: Finally, what advice would you give other women about taking an entrepreneurial path?

Barbara: If you are considering a new challenge, just go for it. It’s exhilarating and scary, but also life-changing and fun!
