As women we embrace our unique personalities and skills.

Activities That Awaken Our Five Senses:

If you are an entrepreneur, you built your successful business from scratch. But now, as we age, your body and mind may not be as sharp as they used to be, which can affect your confidence and impact your business. That’s why it’s important to engage in activities that awaken your senses, like eating with all your senses. Because when we eat mindfully, we engage all our senses, we are more in touch with our bodies, and we improve our personal and professional lives.

“That’s why it’s important to engage in activities that awaken our senses, like eating with all our senses.”

Eating is one of the most sensual things we do every day. It’s not just about taste; it’s about the way the food looks, the sense of smell, and the way it feels in your mouth. So, let’s break down each of these senses and explore how they can help us feel more connected to ourselves and our bodies.

Sight:

When you sit down to eat, put your food on a plate, and take a moment to observe the colors and textures of the food on your plate. Even if you’re eating fast food, you can put it on a plate and enjoy each bite. Taking in what you see can be as exciting as the flavors we taste. You might be surprised by how much more appealing your food looks on a plate rather than in its original packaging. When we take the time to appreciate the presentation of our food, we are also taking time for ourselves.

Smell:

Take a deep breath and smell the food. Is it spicy, is it tangy, or sweet? Does it make your mouth water in anticipation? The sense of smell is very powerful; it evokes memories and emotions. Think about how the first cup of coffee smells in the morning, or the sweet freshness of an apple. By paying attention to the smells of our food, we engage our sense of smell and connect with the moment.

Taste:

Explore the texture of the food in your mouth with every bite. Is it crunchy, chewy, or smooth? What is the taste sensation? Does it start sweet and then go salty or is it the opposite way? Savor the flavors and notice the different tastes, textures, and nuances. Engaging with your sense of taste helps you slow down and truly enjoy your food. It’s easy to get caught up in the rush of everyday life, but when we take the time to taste our food, we are taking a moment for ourselves.

“Engaging with your sense of touch connects you to your body and the present moment.”

Touch:

Finally, think about the way the food feels in your mouth. Is it soft and fluffy or crispy and crunchy? Does it melt in your mouth, or do you need to chew it for a while? Is it hard on the outside but soft in the middle? Pay attention to the way the food feels in your mouth, on your tongue, and as you swallow it. Notice how it affects your senses.Tapping into your sense of touch connects you to your body and the present moment.

Engaging Your Five Senses:

Utilizing all your senses while eating can help you feel more connected to yourself and your body. It can also help you feel more confident and satisfied, which can have a positive impact on your business dealings. For example, if we’re meeting with a potential client over lunch, feeling confident and satisfied with our meal can help us approach the meeting with ease and grace. Your personal relationships will change as well!

Does every meal have to be gourmet? No! Engaging your senses every time you eat, or even drink something, will change how you think about food and increase your senses. It’s the small things that count, and when we take the time to engage with our senses while eating, we are taking a moment for ourselves.

You are activating your sensual nature in a way socially acceptable in public!!

Engaging in sensual activities improves your mental and emotional well-being, it has a positive impact on your business and in your personal life. When we feel more confident and connected to ourselves, we approach our business dealings with greater ease and build stronger relationships with clients, colleagues, and family. So go ahead and indulge!

About the Author:

I understand. I’ve also looked in the mirror and felt old.

When I was in my early 50’s I felt invisible. I couldn’t sleep. I had no energy. I was gaining weight. I looked and felt old. Was this going to be my fate? My life? It wasn’t supposed to be this way! I wanted to be the vibrant and lively woman that I saw at a local restaurant celebrating her 80th birthday. She was surrounded by people who enjoyed her company, her wit, and her laughter. I wanted that! I wanted to age with vitality and grace, like Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren.

As a clinical pharmacist with over 35 years of experience and a tango instructor for over a decade, I created “An Ageless Life: Look 10 Years Younger” Program. It’s designed to help women overcome the same challenges I faced. Age is just a number, it’s how you live your life that counts. Want to know more?
